From the CD booklet: Liber Mundi, ARTS

…the regular heartbeat of the violoncellos underpins the prayer in Mater, a composition for string orchestra that recalls the atmospheres evoked by Arvo Part, but that is interspersed with that typically Italian melodic impulse that Baltic minimalism lacks. The most obvious influence is English symphonism in the style of Vaughan Williams, particularly in the use of the timpanis to underline the bursts with which each much-awaited ray of light breaks forth and reveals itself. Extremely coherent, this music is evoked in a very transparent and direct manner, particularly because it is not constrained by a slavish devotion to originality, often pursued even when there is nothing original to show.
