[Andrea Milanesi, Melodie infinite [Infinite melodies], Tracce no. 6,  June 2012]

Among the sources of inspiration for the pieces featured on Cristian Carrara’s new disc are the novels of Dostoevskij and the Holy Bible (the Liber Mundi to which the title refers), but these are not all; the anthology also dedicates space to pages such as Mater (a touching hymn to motherhood which seems to flow from an infinite melody) and pieces such as East West Romance and A Peace Ouverture, which are closely linked to the Holy Land and its history. Indeed the Friulian composer (born in 1977) never wished to separate his identity as an artist from the pursuit of his faith, which supports him day after day, and note after note in his compositions; in the hope that the promise referred to in Face to Face, a musical reflection on the words of St. Paul, will be realized (“But we will then see him face to face…”).
